Virginia Distribution Center
The Virginia Distribution Center (VDC) provides a broad selection of high-quality products and services at the lowest prices to the Commonwealth of Virginia agencies, behavioral health and correctional institutions, universities and colleges, localities, and political subdivisions.

The VDC maintains the lowest prices on products and services by leveraging the collective buying power of the Commonwealth, using efficient freight methods and operating an onsite Quality Assurance Laboratory.

The VDC offers more than 1,300 top-quality line items, including staple foods, frozen foods, janitorial supplies, paper and plastic products, safety supplies, flags, and other select items. Customer Focused Service
The VDC’s Quality Assurance Program evaluates commodities to ensure they meet or exceed specifications. The VDC’s laboratory responds to agency complaints concerning product quality to assure that the products meet or exceed customer expectations and avoid customer cost increases. The VDC also runs a random sampling program which allows us to evaluate products when they are received into the distribution center and ensure compliance and consistency to specifications and delivery requirements. Of the over 1,300 items in the VDC inventory, items purchased on contract are tested once a year, and spot purchased items are tested twice a year. Items are also evaluated and tested based on customer comments related to quality.

The VDC established and coordinates quarterly Customer Advisory meetings. Our customers advise the VDC staff on specifications and desired quality levels, suggest new products, participate in product evaluations, suggest ways that the VDC can improve products and service, and provide networking opportunities for our customers and staff.
